An explosion has been reported near the Nigerian Army’s Mogadishu Cantonment, popularly known as Abacha Barracks, in Abuja.
The incident occurred around 2:32pm on Sunday, May 26, at a bus stop opposite the barracks. Preliminary reports suggest the blast may have been caused by a suspected suicide bomber. One person was reportedly injured.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Nigerian Army confirmed the explosion and assured the public that the situation is under control.
“Explosion at bus stop opposite Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. Situation under control,” the Army wrote.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is currently at the scene, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.
